Mother’s Love…revealed
With just three weeks until Mother’s Day, we can all agree that it’s very handy to have some kind of clue as to your mum’s favourite things, so you can earn the best brownie points when you present her with the perfect gift on Mothering Sunday.
So whilst some of the results from a recent survey, conducted by us at James Crockford Photography, are fairly predictable, it pulls a fair bit at the heart strings to know that a Mother’s love remains with her family first, but slightly more unusual is that coming in at second, third and fourth place in the survey are nostalgic fruity sweets, male US actors and cheese!
We compiled this research in a bid to create the perfect gift ideas for Mums across the region. And for those looking to create long lasting memories through a gift, a portrait session with immediate family came very high in the list of ideal pressies – when asked who their favourite person was, 32% of Mums chose sons and daughters, 29% chose their husband and 20% chose their own parents. It’s also worth noting that dogs came very high in the results too, with 26% being favoured over their feline friends (13%, interestingly the same as Tigers as a chosen favourite animal)
We believe family portrait sessions in the home or a familiar favourite location such as a park, are always so much more relaxed and fun than a studio with bright lights. We love spending time with a family and getting to know them, what they like to do and what makes them laugh. This makes the photos so much more special
Relaxing with friends (22%) came top in the list of things a Mum would love to do in her spare time, with shopping appearing surprisingly low in the table (2.5%), along with sex and laughing (perhaps the two are connected somehow?)
Home is the favourite place for Mum’s surveyed, coming second place in both the favoured destinations across the UK and worldwide; Cornwall and Spain being the top two preferred locations.
So to sum up all of a Mum’s favourite things, to create the most perfect Mother’s Day gift…a family portrait session at home, with plenty of wine, champagne and gin, everyone wearing the colour red, bought from the high street, in the spring!
And for those who do buy a special Mother’s Day portrait package from James Crockford Photography this month, will also receive a luxury pampering session (facial and face, neck and shoulder massage) courtesy of Pearl’s Paradise for their Mum to take in the comfort of her own home whenever she chooses. The package costs just £120 and will consist of the photography session, treatments and a framed 7.5 x 5 print, worth £240.
