I have been asked by Catalyst Lend Lease to provide them with a good library of images that they can use in their promotional material and website etc. They are the LEP (Local Education Partnership) in the Birmingham area, building schools (the buildings and communities around them), and starting with three schools, are expanding to take on more projects over the next few years.
So I headed out to Holte School a few weeks ago, and more recently to Broadway School with Rita and her colleagues. Broadway is amazing – it is being reconstructed at the moment, so they are housed in temporary buildings. However these are not the shabby portakabins that you usually find knocking around schools, but multistory schools with everything a school needs from science labs to chill out areas for breaks. You really do not feel like you are in a temporary building.
In addition to this they had a launch event to announce the LEP to the world. It was hosted by Maggie Philby, who used to present Tomorrows World (I used to love that program…), and she was interested in seeing the school in action, so the morning of the launch we headed over as she was shown around. BBC Midlands Today were also there, and there was great coverage on both the lunchtime and evening news.
Here are some photos from the school and the event….
