Sense Ball

This Thursday I was asked by Kate at Sense (the deafblind charity) to go along to their first ever ball at Highbury Hall, Birmingham, to take some portraits of the guests throughout the evening.

I headed over earlier in the evening, and was joined later by Kat who helped me out, and took full advantage of the fantastic evening sun by taking the photos out on the terrace. There were around 80 people there plus their carers, and they had come from all around the West Midlands. I was taking a mixture of individual shots and groups in the early part of the evening, and after everyone had been to a drumming workshop, was able to show everyone the results towards the end of the night.

We had great fun, and Kat recognised a few familiar faces too (she volunteered on Sense Holidays for quite a few years, although many of the kids that she looked after are now young adults…), and all the guests loved getting dressed up for the evening.

Some of the photographs from the event.
