REC Technology Summer Dinner
The REC called a few days ago to ask me to another of their events. This was an evening dinner with speakers at the Haymarket Hotel (a discrete and stylish hotel just off Haymarket – it would be a fab place for wedding photos too…). When I booked my train tickets I left what should have been plenty of time for the short hop from Marylebone to Picadilly Circus. However I hadn’t reckoned with the 48 hour tube strike. Thankfully the bus I had to get started at the station, because once we got through the ridiculous traffic every bus stop was rammed with people trying to get home, and by the time we got to Haymarket it was a real effort to get off through the crowds. I arrived in time though, and spent the next few hours photographing the guests and speakers.
After the meal the headline speaker was Quentin Letts (the journalist), who seemed to go down well (and with the political landscape as it is at the moment he was not short of things to talk about…).
